Judge Harvey to deliver the Judicial Keynote at the NZ Law & Technology Conference

New Zealand’s leading technology Judge, His Honour Judge David Harvey will be delivering the Judicial Keynote session at the New Zealand Law and Technology Conference. The event is taking place at the Pullman Hotel in Auckland on the 18th of March 2015.

Judge Harvey will present his Judicial Keynote session on “How technology Challenges Law”. The session will explore how disruptive communications technologies challenge every facet of our professional and social lives. The Law is not immune from these challenges as established doctrines require re-examination in the new Digital Paradigm. Judge Harvey will examine how some legal principles that have come under attack and offers some glimpses into the future of law.

About Judge Harvey

Judge Harvey has been a District Court Judge in New Zealand since 1989. Judge Harvey has been closely involved in Information Technology initiatives involving the Judiciary including the development of trial management software.

Judge Harvey has written about and presented at many events locally and internationally in the technology domain. In addition Judge Harvey is an active participant on Twitter and writes his own Blog about Law and IT – The IT Countrey Justice.

In addition to his judicial duties, Judge Harvey is consultant editor for Butterworths “Electronic Business and Technology Law” and a member of the Editorial Board for Butterworths “Technology Law Forum”. He is a part-time lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Auckland, teaching Law and Information Technology. He has written extensively in the field of law and has had published a book on the law and networked systems entitled internet.law.nz.

We have been fortunate to have Judge Harvey involved in the New Zealand Law & Technology Conference since its inception back in 2013. Judge Harvey has left delegates in little doubt about the importance of how lawyers address technology in their practice. He has always impressed that lawyers need to be aware of the technologies and the evolving practices that are required to manage this information.
