Today we have had the announcement that Nuix has acquired Ringtail to provide an ’end-to-end’ eDiscovery solution.
This announcement probably trumps all other movements in an eDiscovery market that has experienced considerable change recently, with acquisitions and providers deploying tools that may have historically been competitors.

The announcement is a logical step for both Nuix and Ringtail as it will enable both to grow and provide a powerful ‘end-to end’ eDiscovery platform from processing to production. It enables them to compete globally with the market leader Relativity and newer options like Everlaw and others.
It will be interesting to see what the future holds.
From an Australian perspective, Ringtail through FTI Consulting has a long and loyal client base that includes many law firms, corporate and government organisations. A platform is only as good as the skillset that you around it – and for years the Australian FTI Ringtail team have been one of the best.
Often forgotten is the impact eDiscovery companies with Australian origins have had on the global eDiscovery stage. Along with the success of Nuix and Ringtail, we also have the impact of Jo Sherman with EDT, and others from this part of the world that have taken eDiscovery to a global stage. This is truly remarkable when one considers the dominance and size of the US eDiscovery market.
It will be interesting to watch developments, although today’s announcement ensures there is an even more powerful eDiscovery offering in the market, that provides an ‘end-to-end’ solution.
There will inevitably be further developments ahead for the eDiscovery market.
